Hamburg / Copenhagen, February 16th – having joint forces for Danish BESS assets in autumn 2025, German developer Niteos and Danish trading company Twig are announcing the successful acquisition of their next joint stand-alone BESS project.

The 24,9MW battery storage system is located in northern Jutland, Denmark and has been acquired from Danish developer E&B Renewables. It will support Denmark’s further energy transition by providing grid flexibility, enhancing renewable integration and contributing to grid stability. Construction is expected to start by mid-2026.

The two companies are contributing their respective strengths: Niteos contributes expertise in developing, constructing and operating renewable assets while Twig assumes the responsibility for trading and revenue optimization of the asset.

“We are very pleased to support our portfolio company, Niteos, in increasing its presence in the Danish BESS market via this project acquisition. This is a transaction which complements and expands our existing investments across other European BESS markets as we look to capture early-mover advantage and deliver long-term outcomes for investors”, said Adam Irwin, Investment Director, Infrastructure Equity, at Aviva Investors and Member of the Niteos Advisory Board.

“We have started very smoothly into our strategic partnership with Niteos and are happy that the next project is added to our joint portfolio now”, said Casper Kaae Sønderby, founding partner of Twig. “We are ready to start smooth and optimized operations as soon as the projects will be online.”

The partnership of Niteos and Twig was advised during the transaction by a competent legal team of Gorrissen Federspiel around Søren Nielsen. Sweco Denmark provided technical consulting and due diligence.
